These shields are multipurpose, They can deflect arrows and incoming objects from enemy lines. They were also used as plow, to charge into the enemy lines. Hoplon Shields were constructed out of deeply- dished wood. Hoplon shields were made quicker and less cost effective, but the con of them is that there they did not last has long. But most shields had a thin layer of mental to protect the wood and make the lifespan of the shield last a lot longer. ​
